Mindful Sparks for Creative Writing

Week 11

There is no waste.

The scrawls. The stop-start beginnings. The strange metaphors and lines that seemingly don’t lead anywhere. Mindfulness serves as a reminder that nothing is wasted. Even the things that seem disorganised have a purpose. Writing is not a performance, it is a practice.

This week’s exercise:

Go and raid your old shoe boxes, strum through the pages of old journals for previously abandoned pieces of writing. Quietly sit with them and then write fresh responses to them without passing judgment.

Story Prompt:

“They went back to the old draft, and this time, something opened.”
