Mindful Sparks for Creative Writing
Week 28
The Story in a Window
We spend lots of time looking through windows without really seeing what's beyond them.
A window can frame a garden, a busy street, a row of rooftops, or a piece of sky. Yet somehow, when we stop and pay attention, even the most ordinary view can become interesting. The neighbour hanging out washing. A bird landing on a fence. Shadows moving across a wall. Small moments that might otherwise pass unnoticed.
Today, find a window and spend a little time looking through it. Don't look for anything dramatic. Let the view come to you. Be curious. Notice what catches your eye and what stories might be quietly playing out in front of you.
This week's exercise:
Sit by a window for ten minutes. No phone. No distractions. Notice the colours, the movement, the changing light, the people, the weather. Write down ten things you observe before you begin writing.
Story Prompt:
"Every afternoon at exactly three o'clock, someone appeared in the window opposite..."
